关于组织学生参加2015年“Many Languages One World”写作大赛的通知

各学院(中心、研究院、所):

2014年,联合国学术影响力项目(UNAI)与美国ELS教育服务企业联合举办了“Many Languages One World”写作大赛。大赛受到广泛关注并取得圆满成功,来自世界各地128个国家的4000余名学生撰写文章投稿参赛。最终来自6大洲26个国家的60位同学获胜。60位获胜者中有6位学生来自中国高校(3名来自我校,5名为外国留学生)。

2014年的“Many Languages One World”写作大赛中,我校外国语学院学生周振宇(唯一中国籍获奖学生)、海外教育学院乌兹别克斯坦籍留学生Halitov Babur及马达加斯加籍留学生SandratrarivoRandriamanohisoamalalaMinah在众多的参赛者中胜出。我校3位获胜者与其他57名获胜者一起参加了在纽约举行的大赛颁奖典礼,在联合国总部举行的世界青年论坛,并用各自的参赛语言发表了演讲。

根据大赛组委会的通知,2015年将继续举办“Many Languages One World”写作大赛。为了进一步推动我校国际化工作,鼓励我校学生更多地走向国际舞台,决定继续组织我校学生参加本次大赛。为做好此项工作,现将相关事项通知如下:

一、大赛要求

118周岁及以上的我校全日制在校生。

2、参赛的文章需要使用联合国官方语言(英语,法语,西班牙语,汉语,俄语,阿拉伯语)撰写且所用语言不得为母语或者中小学阶段的主要教学用语言

3、参赛文章要求:(具体写作要求见附件,详见大赛官方网站http://www.els.edu/en/ManyLanguagesOneWorld)。

4、所有参赛者需在 2015 3 25前将参赛文章上传至主办方官方网站。

二、大赛奖励

本次大赛评委会将评选出70名获胜者(每种语言选出10名获胜者,另从其余的参赛者中选出10名优胜者)。2015720-26日,70名获奖者将参加在联合国总部举行的全球青年论坛系列活动。美国ELS教育服务企业全额赞助获奖者的来回机票,以及2015720-26日期间在纽约参会的所有旅行和食宿费用。

三、我校工作安排

1、请符合条件并打算参赛的学生于2015131到学工处大学生素质教育中心办公室(学工楼209)或打电话至0511-8879116315252900846(王老师),13775324190(钟老师)报名。

2、学生报名后学工处将统一向大赛组委会推荐并进行相关证明。

3、大赛组委会收到并确认学校推荐和证明后,即会向参赛者发送电子邮件,进一步说明如何参赛及上传参赛作品。

4、学生于2015 3 25日前将参赛文章上传至主办方官方网站并同时将文章发送至大学生素质教育中心办公室邮箱xgcszzx@ujs.edu.cn

四、其它事项

1、为减少学院的工作,故让学生直接到大学生素质教育中心办公室报名,但学院要将大赛信息传递到有关语言基础较好的学生。

2、我校留学生的参赛、推荐和组织由海外教育学院负责,具体参赛要求由海外教育学院自行拟定。

一、大赛宗旨

Share your ideas and be heard... perhaps even in the General Assembly of the United Nations!
70 Students will be selected as delegates to the 2015 United Nations Academic Impact Global Youth Forum where they will create plans of action related to the United Nations Post-2015 Global Development Agenda. The students will present these plans of action at United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
Airfare, Room and Meals will be provided by ELS Educational Services, Inc.

二、文章要求

To participate: Write an essay (2,000 words or less) related to the post-2015 global development agenda, in the context of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, and the definition of new goals reflecting the imperative of global sustainable development that recognises, and is enriched by, cultural and linguistic diversity. You are encouraged to visit the website sustainabledevelopment.un.orgfor background material in this regard.
Entries must be in an official language of the United Nations that is not your first language and was not your principal language of instruction during your primary or secondary education. To enter, you must be a full-time university student and must be 18 years of age or older by March 25, 2015. Your participation must be sponsored by a Faculty Member or Authorized Representative at the university you are currently attending.

Contest Rules

The United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), in collaboration with ELS Educational Services, Inc., (ELS) invites students, 18 years of age or older, who are enrolled in a full-time course of study at a college or university, to participate in the Many Languages, One World Essay Contest, which will decide the winning delegates to be invited to a Global Youth Forum and preparatory conference to be held in New York in July of 2015.

The essay should relate to the post-2015 global development agenda, in the context of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, and the definition of new goals reflecting the imperative of global sustainable development that recognises, and is enriched by, cultural and linguistic diversity. Students wishing to participate ("Entrants") are encouraged to visit the website sustainabledevelopment.un.org for background material in this regard.

Entries, of up to 2,000 words in length should be in an official language of the United Nations that is not the first language of the Entrant or the principal language of instruction in his or her primary or secondary education. The official languages of the United Nations are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. For complete information on how to enter, please visit the How To Enter tab.

A Faculty Member or other representative authorized by the academic institution will be required to complete a Reference Form attesting that the Entrant is a current full-time student of the institution in good standing, that the essay is written in a language that is not the Entrant's first language or the principal language of instruction during the Entrant's primary or secondary education, and that the entry is the original, unaided work of the entrant. Entries must be uploaded in MS Word format to the websiteManyLanguagesOneWorld.ELS.edu by Wednesday, March 25th, 2015 at 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time.

五、大赛奖励

A panel of judges will decide upon a total of 70 Winners of the contest - 10 in each of the 6 official United Nations languages, and an additional 10 chosen on merit from the remaining entries in all languages.

These Winners will be invited to New York to participate in a series of events during the week of July 20-26, 2015. These events will include a Global Youth Forum on the sustainable development agenda in the context of multilingualism, cultural diversity and global citizenship at United Nations Headquarters, preceded by a preparatory students' conference at Adelphi University sponsored and arranged by ELS Educational Services, Inc.

During the preparatory conference, Winners will work with their language group to prepare plans of action which could be undertaken by student and local communities towards the realization of the United Nations post-2015 global development agenda. These plans will be presented at the Global Youth Forum at United Nations Headquarters. Please note that Winners will not be reading or presenting the text of their essays at this event.

六、美国ELS教育服务企业全额赞助获奖者相关费用

ELS will pay for the Winners' roundtrip economy class airfares in carriers of its choosing between the commercial airport nearest the Winner's home city and New York, and be responsible for their travel, room and meals for the duration of the conference. Sightseeing and recreation will be arranged by ELS.

No extensions of stay or early arrivals will be possible. Winners are responsible for all documentation relating to their journey, including passports and visas and the costs related to these. ELS will provide basic emergency medical insurance for their journey and temporary stay in the United States.
